Our u14 girls headed off on the road to Sligo this afternoon, to face Real Tubber in the Connacht cup 1/4 finals.
Playing against the wind and a tough opposition, the girls got on the front foot playing some great football and were unlucky to not take one of the many chances they created. However it was Real Tubber that found the breakthrough from a long ball over the top ⚽1-0.
Town continued to play their game and didn't drop their heads as they went looking for the equaliser. Then a fantastic corner from Ruby found the head of Ayda who's first attempt was blocked but as it fell she smashed it home ⚽ 1-1.
Into the second half Town continued to control possession, although Tubber always looked dangerous on the break and it was a quick break that undone Town for the second time ⚽2-1 to Tubber.
The girls needed to dig deep and keep their heads . Once again a ball into the box from Ruby found Ayda who drew a high boot and Town were awarded a penalty. Up stepped Lucy Murphy to calmly place the ball into the net ⚽2-2.
Momentum in their favour Town pushed on, and when Ruby was dragged down inside the area after some fantastic work, a 2nd penalty was given. Again Lucy Murphy stepped up and as cool as you like made it ⚽3-2 .
Tubber threw themselves forward looking to get back in the game ,but Town held firm and when a ball landed at the feet of Brigita just inside the area she finished with confidence ⚽ 4-2 Town at the final whistle.
Well done to the girls today each and everyone of them gave it their all. 💪
